Company History
1994: The Foundation
- November 18: La Union Medical Laboratories and Diagnostic Center began its operations as a freestanding clinic.
- Founder: Registered under Dr. Evamarie Dyquiangco-Madayag.
- Location: Ground floor of Eso-Nice Bldg., San Fernando City, La Union.
- Initial Services: Equipped with medical consultations, a secondary laboratory, x-ray, and ultrasound facilities accredited by the Bureau of Research and Laboratories and Radiation Health Services of the Department of Health (DOH).
1996: Expansion and Incorporation
- June: The center expanded its services and was formally registered as a corporation with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) under the name La Union Medical Diagnostic Center, Inc.
- Ownership: Transitions to a group of dedicated doctors and businessmen.
- September 8: The Center transferred to its own dedicated building located at Ancheta St. corner Bucaneg St., San Fernando City, La Union.
1997: Regional Accreditation
- The institution (LMDCI) achieved accreditation by the DOH - POEA - MARINA.
- Purpose: To cater specifically to the medical examinations of overseas employment workers, tourists, and immigrants from Region I, II, III, and CAR.
1998: In-Patient Services
- December: LUMDCI reached a major milestone by establishing its In-Patient services, transitioning from a purely diagnostic center to a hospital facility.
Notable Recognitions & Developments
- May 5, 1999: Awarded "Exemplary Performance" on the External Quality Assessment for HIV and Hepatitis B Testing by the DOH Bureau of Research and Laboratories.
- November 28, 2001: Received "Outstanding Performance (Star 4)" for Quality Assurance in the Radiology Department.
- November 29, 2002: Received "Outstanding Performance (Star 5)" for Quality Assurance in the Radiology Department.
- Evolution: The center was eventually renamed La Union Medical Diagnostic Center and Hospital Inc. (LUMED) and is currently accredited by the DOH as a Level 1 Hospital.
Present Status
To date, LUMED is continuously expanding and upgrading its services to address the evolving medical needs of its clients, the local community, and nearby provinces.
